On The Go Chicago

I have gotten a few questions from some moms who read my blog.  Here are a few of the most common.  I’ve also inlcuded some pics from my urban explorations below.

How long have I lived in the city?

I moved to Chicago just over five years ago from Hermosa Beach, CA.  It was quite the culture shock, but after five winters and two babies, Chicago feels like home.  I love city life and I love raising my kids in the city.  There is never a dull moment!

What part of the city do you live in?

My family lives in Lakeview.  We spend most of our time in the city, but occasionally explore the burbs with our friends that have moved away.  Although I love Lakeview, we find ourselves checking out lots of different neighborhoods in the city from Andersonville to Streeterville!

How do you find new places to explore?

I go stir crazy sitting at home.  I am always on the lookout for new places to go.  There are three main ways I find new activities, classes, and restaurants:

1. Other Moms – Like many of you, I have a vast network of “mommy” friends.  They keep we well informed of cool places to take the kids. Please email me any ideas for places or types of places you would like me to check out.
2. Walking and Driving – I am always on the lookout for kid friendly activities.  I regularly find flyers, posters or new restaurants and shops when I am out and about in the city.
3. Internet – I spend A LOT of time surfing the internet.
