Hi, I'm an urban explorer of mom and kid friendly events, activities, classes, and restaurants in Chicago. My mission is to discover, explore and share my adventures with other families.
One of my favorite things to do not only in winter but all year is to take the kids to the Garfield Park Conservatory. The kids love to run around the children’s garden and partake in the events that are held for kids every Monday. Best part is it’s FREE!
Love going to Bubbles when the weather is cold out!
Mandy – I heard on NPR this morning that ALL of the buildings are back open as of this weekend too. I love the Garfield Conservatory, especially the WILD Wednesdays!
We love going to little beans or having playdates for our friends to come over!
We love going to little beans with our friends on cold winter days!
Cindy-That’s great news! We went a few weeks ago and kids were disappointed that we couldn’t go to the “fish pond” They will be happy to know that it’s reopened!
While I think the winter is a great time to check out our many museums (which we do), personally on days that aren’t too cold, I love going to the zoo because it’s not very crowded. I’ll make the drive out to the suburbs to go to the Brookfield Zoo since the indoor animal habitats are much larger. The kids love it!
So far this winter, our favorite activity has been heading to an indoor play space. We are trying to check them all out!
We are loving the sledding so far! Oz Park is the best for the little ones.
We’ll bundle up at hit Mr. Singer’s shows at the zoo, then brave the cold to see the polar bear. Also love going to the kid concerts at the Beat Kitchen, to let my little guy dance off some energy.
Sledding on Montrose Hill and going to the Nature Museum!
We love to bundle on up for a stroll down to Bittersweet bakery for some delicious hot chocolate and quality people watching :)
We love to go little beans, she’d aquarium and look at the fishes and go sledding at OZ park
While we love to get out and explore museums, discover new play spaces and participate in playdates, on a really cold Chicago afternoon snuggling up and reading a ton of our favorite stories with my 2 year old is the perfect way to enjoy our time together!
